S.I.C. History:
since 1980, there has been a steady growth of the Muslim community (Jaffari Figah) in the Northeast
Atlanta area. There was no permanent place available for the religious activities and the Islamic education of
the children. For the most part, all programs were held at homes or rented office spaces.
The initiative of a few individuals in the community made it possible to acquire a facility to meet these necessary
needs of the community.
In August of 1994, the Sahebozzaman Islamic Center of Atlanta was registered as a non-profit organization and started
its weekly service to the community at 120 copeland rd suit 207 Atlanta GA.
The Muslim community of Atlanta launched an ambition project to start a program toward fulfilling community needs.
The property (5.6 Arc.) at 4853 Old Mountain Park Road was purchased on April 5 1998, for Sahebozzaman Islamic Center
of Atlanta, Inc. A loan for this purchase was secured from First National Bank of Cherokee and four individuals had
to co-sign for this loan. |
